I feel your pain regarding finding the match this morning. The guide for my DISH satellite was not accurate and I had closed my tabs from yesterday. By the way, the US SOCCER web site is awful.

If this tournament goes on much longer Rose Lavelle will be out there in a bikini bottom that matches the uniform of the match.

Get your recorder set up ahead of time as the next match begins while most American patriots sleep.

Sorry Erin, I did not go back and read the later comments.

I don't want to get too much into womens' 'kits', heh, heh, but you will see olympic female runners who wear far less than female footballers.

I was all set to watch the match on Telemundo this morning, but luckily at the last minute I found it elsewhere in English.

Oh no prob I'll sum it up: I said to be fair all athletes of all genders and all sports should wear the same cheeky pants that the women's beach volleyball team does; Jeff countered everyone should be in thongs because they're "ripped." Then I was like, hey the ancients did it nude. When in Rome, amiright?

Bart, you should go back and see our comments discussion of the Olympic uniform issue in the last match diary. I think we really made some headway.

Also, I consider myself a pretty intelligent person, but I have yet to figure out how exactly the events are being broadcast. I've heard it requires a combination of intimate knowledge of relativity and 3rd grade Common Core math to crack the code.

Is it true that the gold medal match will start at 10pm eastern time?

My ratings are also skewed because I missed a chunk of the 1st half when I went to the grocery for milk for my coffee. What were those dodgy highlight sites again?

Back line (2) is slow and Ertz (6) had to bail them out. I'm excluding Dunn, because she's usually upfield - except for when she has to track back to bail out the back line.

Rapinoe (3) was useless. She only has the wheels to get to a 70-30 ball. All her crosses, corner and free kicks were over hit. I expected her to put her PK into the 20th row. Lavelle (NR), was she on the field?

Forwards (2). If you're going to play Route 1 soccer, you have to stay onside. At least Morgan didn't take her usual half-dozen standing eight counts. Why would she, she was always goal-side of the last defender.

Naher 7 is fair for the PK saves in regulation time and spotkicktime.

Andonovski 4. He owes his job to Naher.

Kits: 4. Too much material for Lavelle and Press. The might ask advice from Sepp Blatter https://www.theguardian.com/uk/2004/jan/16/football.gender

Yeah, it seems like we're seeing the same thing. I don't really know what the solution is, because the macro explanation for what's happening is probably "everyone's getting old at the same time." Maybe start Williams again? Heath seems okay, Ertz and Horan are still good. Can Press play striker?

I wondered how you covered all these matches. Being a dingus, I kind of assumed you'd be up at 6am ready to watch this thing live. I forgot DVR was a thing. (I've never had it. And now I feel like we're at a technological point where getting DVR would be like being in 2004 and thinking, I guess I better get around to upgrading to cassette tapes.)

I missed the first half, but I saw the second because my 3-year-old pestered me out of bed shortly after 7, so this match diary analysis totally jives with what I saw. I'm flummoxed by all the off-sidesing. It's to the point now where I can't celebrate a goal because I just assume they're going to recall it. Anyway, life is fleeting.

Must have tough for Rapinoe to take that penalty seeing as she hates America
