Couple thoughts. First, it only makes sense that Arriola would rush in when Zardes was trying some nipple work. Second, Turner was definitely that kid who said he wanted to be a pro soccer player when he grows up and when his parents said but what’s your backup he said comedian. I think we need to give him credit for really prepping the backup plan. Not many do.
That was an entertaining match. You can't always say that about a Gold Cup game.
But, I was kvetching about the referee the entire match for continually calling the US for niggling little nothing fouls, but not doing the same against Mexico. But then, as the match went past the 115', I thought, "This guy really hasn't had a bad game after all" as there wasn't an outrageous, game changing mistake.**
**What perhaps should have been a game changing call was the kung fu kick to the ear. Very impressive form, but generally frowned upon in the referee's handbook.
