Does presidential protection apply to George Weah's son getting fouled? If so, we could arrest a bunch of players on opposing teams and take them off the field. That would be so CONCACAF and one-up Brazil's recent shenanigans with Argentine players and COVID restrictions.
It DOES seem that political intimidation via President Weah should be an advantage we have at some point. Maybe we'll get drawn into a group with Ivory Coast and suddenly there will be regional interests to be traded.
Hang on. We are miles apart on our reading of the midfield.
My view: Mckennie MOTM, Adams a close second. They dominated the MF and you never even saw Adams, that's how thorough it was. Musah lucky to play with those 2, as they carried 110% of the midfield luggage, leaving him with 0 responsibility. Ironically the same as Sunday, when his total lack of responsibility led to meltdown with Lletget and Acosta unable to provide cover (at least Acosta tried.)
I'm continually impressed with Aaronson, who plays beyond his youthful mien. This is a guy who plays up to the level of the game, or raises the level himself.
We did dominate the midfield, but I read it more as a team effort. I felt that Adams and McKennie each had a few too many giveaways. None in terrible spots, but I thought other players did more to build the attack.
I really enjoy the football recaps, thanks!
