Yes! We need more wisdom stories for our insane times! Stories go deeper than explanations. And... please continue the comedy! I know I'm really enjoying something when I'm alone in my home laughing out loud (even while my assumptions are being challenged).
The message I got out of it was that if you question the rules while still playing the game, you'll be treated with scorn and contempt. If you decide to quit playing the game and do your own thing, you'll be treated with fear and suspicion, but at least you'll be left alone
I started the story a skeptic but was won over. This was a really well-done and clever fable, and I was happy to see your sense of humor too!
Absolutely love this, no wonder your job is writing
I’ll just add that I sent the story to my young-adult son, who will enjoy it too!

To quote Christian Bale playing Ken Miles in Ford v Ferrari, “More of that, please!”
I really enjoyed that. 🙂
Loved this one, was the one that first made me consider subscribing
I’ll read whatever you write, man.
Well folks, we had a good run. Now Jeff is going to get canceled for appropriating a nonexistent culture.
Loved the story, by the way. Very cool.
Great story. Loved it! Shared it. Please do more.
This was unusual, funny, and had a serious message I wish more people - especially more of the manly men I know - could comprehend.
Where did you find something like this…or was it simply wallowing around in your brain?
I'm not entirely sure I understand the ending. Did he want to see by himself who the terrifying people were to understand why the trial existed?
No, he decided "to hell with these clowns" and left.
The moral is what made the story priceless.
Maybe it’s Jeff’s diplomatic way of explaining why he left Last Week Tonight ...
Loved it, Jeff. Wonderful, beautiful.
