“Most people believe that . . . their spouse is being railed sideways by a quantum computer at this very moment.”
Fools. The truth is that everyone’s spouse is being simultaneously railed sideways and not being railed sideways by a quantum computer, and they’re doing it / not doing it in the superposition.
> It would greatly improve the federal budget, which is about 30 percent health care spending.
Unfortunately, this part is actually wrong. Studies show that since healthier people live longer and most healthcare spending is on the elderly, reducing obesity actually increases lifetime healthcare spending.
This is a good point, though knowing which effect would be bigger would depend on knowing the precise health effects of the drugs. Any chance you have a link?
(At a minimum we would be paying people social security as they live longer, healthier lives, not paying for expensive healthcare shortly before they die)
The apple guy is funny but he’s got a lot of it wrong due to not knowing that you have to cold-store some varieties like Arkansas Black and Newtown Pippin. You can’t just eat them off a tree. Treat them properly and they’re delicious.
Not only are GLP-1 drugs getting the pessimistic media treatment, they're also getting the big government/big pharma fuck you treatment. I've been using a compounded version of Tirzepatide for the past 4 months and, for a life long fatty like me, it's been life changing. And since I've been getting it for the low price of $350/month, the FDA has decided that there is no longer a shortage and is going to end compounding. So, assuming I can actually find the real thing, I'm going to have to start paying $650 - $1200/month. (unless I want to start ordering the ingredients from China and making it myself - which is a thing that people are doing). I'm lucky, I can actually afford that ridiculous price, but there are a ton of people who have been greatly helped by this drug that are gonna be SOL.

And if you see them doing it with a quantum computer, then it didn’t actually happen…. 🤯

Here's the one I had in mind

(Although in practice making people healthier increases their economic productivity too, which is a major effect I don't think this paper considers).

I’m wildly offended that my own son, who you’ve never met (but surely must be aware of), did not make the list.
Happy New Year everyone!
Tyler was considered.
My daughter also did not make the list. I will be filing suit in small-claims court this afternoon.
Everyone knows the best eating apples are New England grown MacIntosh. All others are fifth rate, like Scientific American.
You said "applereviews[.]com" at one point where you meant applerankings[.]com. If you care.
Whoops! Corrected. It’s Applereviews.com — Applerankings.com is trash.
Simpsons reverting to their old ways would be refreshing
Cigarettes were probably somewhat effective for ADHD and anxiety, too.
In reference to Guinea worms- it was a poor opener. You obviously don’t have a clue Jeff. Jimmy was a peace maker, but I think you are one of the 11.
