Going out on a limb to predict that one of my favorite things about 2023 will be the uptick in quality dad humor coming our way. Congrats to you and the missus!! And good job taking the commentariat’s advice to just go for it in that column about fatherhood 9 months ago, as I’m sure that was the deciding factor. You won’t regret listening to randos on the internet!!

I’ve been told by multiple people that I talk like a 1960s sitcom dad; I am a 39yo woman, but I own it. (I like to think Dick van Dyke but prob more like Herman Munster if we’re being real.) I hope Maurer starts working in phrases like “give them the what-for!” and “the horn” for phone.

This is why I'm not afraid of the AI apocalypse. If AI is so smart why didn't the YouTube algorithms recommend that HANNUKAH NO NO NO video to me already? They obviously suck at their job. Take over the world? please.

Off the top of my head the good comedy from 2022 was Peacemaker and Weird: The Al Yankovic Story.

I hate to say it but the most consistently funny stuff I found in 2022 was on TikTok.

Mazel Tov on the impending birth of your son!

PS. Being a has taught me that no matter how funny my wife and friends think I am, there is always a subset of people (a/k/a my kids) who “KNOW” otherwise.

Congratulations on becoming a dad. My daughter is 5 and she already rolls her eyes at me and knows that anything that might have been funny is no longer so because I’m a dad.
