The Webb Telescope weighs 14,300 lbs. My scrap yard is currently buying HMS at 250/GT. So, it would in fact be worth about $1600 in scrap steel. Considering it probably has significantly more aluminum and copper than a generic piece of steel, it could be worth closer to $7,000 in aluminum. Deeply saddened by your lack of research here Jeff.
