I feel sorry for my gay family and friends. All of them normal loving couples who just want to go to work, make money, pay taxes, have a nice house, have kids and live a normal life like the next guy…and maybe even chase the American dream. Why would I feel sorry for that? Because this fringe element of the LGBTQ community: child groomers, woke-facists’, renegade, pedo-esque educators who want to teach 5 year olds about sex (any kind of sex), medical professionals willing to alter a minor’s life forever for the right amount of money, etc, etc…. are all getting so much attention that I’m worried it’s affecting how the world now views normal gay people. And by this I mean views not in a good way. A really bad way in fact. A mentally ill kind of way. A way in which the stereotype for “gay” will be strongly correlated with “crazy.” We already see it setting in with parents and at school board meetings. It’s happening now. Today, the biggest threat to LGBTQ community progress is not hatred or bigotry….it these nutjobs they allow to speak for them. Because these people are fucking insane.
Gotta admit, I’m really going to miss you reading your articles. You are a much better performer of your material than my internal monologue. And I don’t have a lot of time to read, so this is probably the end of my intaking the substack. Very excited about the new podcast though, hurry up and get it out already!
There is an important issue underlying the difference between gay marriage support circa 2004 and support of teens transitioning 2023. In the gay marriage case, supporting the maximalist position had no potential negative impacts on the gay couples. In the case of affirmative no questions asked transitioning, arguing that only the maximalist position is correct has the impact of forcing on the person making the wrong decision a catastrophic life-altering procedure.
