This is the first thing that made me smile since learning about the leak. Now back to rage crying.

It is always difficult to find either humor or a touch of irony in moments of tragedy. Thank you for doing your best. I would also like to offer my congratulations on leading me to discover at ScaryMommy.com, one of the best discussions I have seen on the issue of how and when to talk about the issue of abortion with children.

I am going to add this comment to this discussion because I think it represents an extremely important point. When and how is the right time to discuss the topic of abortions with your children? Shouldn't it be a normal part of sex education, bodily autonomy, permission, consent, and birth control discussions? But how and when to talk about it?

Well, here is one of the best discussions that I have heard about it and having raised four daughters with whom I have participated in such discussions as a family, I think this is great advice.

I think perhaps a part of our problem as a society is that too many families have failed to have reasoned, accurate, empathetic, age-appropriate conversations on these topics with their children. Consequently, too many adults are ill-equipped to treat them accurately, compassionately, and with a necessary degree of empathy. Apparently, five of those ill-equipped adults are now part of the conservative SCOTUS majority about to render a tragic, incorrect decision on this issue.

I urge all parents to review this sensitive reasoned discussion and consider how to discuss these issues with children when they are ready to discuss them.

I’m with the other commenters. Thanks for making me smile today (I’m not quite ready to laugh yet). The precious, British spelling of “spilt milk” was a particularly nice touch.

You almost had me believing that Justice Sam really was guest writing your column until I realized he's 72 years old and whoever wrote this column made it seem like he was capable of sending email on his own. Nice.
