News Outlets are Being Hypocritical in a Good Way

The Trump campaign has been hacked. The FBI says that Iran is behind the hack, and the Biden (now Harris) campaign and several news outlets have heard from a mysterious source offering them internal Trump campaign documents. The source calls himself “Robert” and writes from an AOL account, which does seem fishy: Who has AOL these days? Is this Iranian hacker 100 years old? I picture his emails looking like this:

The Biden campaign didn’t look at the materials and contacted the FBI (what a bunch of narcs, right?). News outlets have also not taken the bait: The New York Times, Washington Post, Politico, and Popular Information have reportedly been contacted but opted not to publish. It’s an admirable display of journalistic integrity only slightly undercut by the fact that some things they chose to publish instead include a piece on the “fridgescaping” trend and Karen Attiah’s column.
